ArticleFlow

ArticleFlow turns a local folder hierarchy into eGain folders and articles. Local folders become eGain folders, while .htm and .html files become articles in the corresponding location.

Prepare the source folder

Use a single product folder as the import root.

• Folder names define the eGain taxonomy.
• The filename without .htm or .html becomes the article title.
• Unsupported files are listed under Ignored items.
• Existing folders are reused.
• Existing exact article titles are skipped during a rerun.

Windows-safe names

For / and : characters that Windows does not permit in names, encode them in the local path:

Prepare eGain

1. Launch or reconnect the controlled browser.
2. Open the eGain folder that should contain the imported product root.
3. Keep that folder selected before starting ArticleFlow.
4. Open ArticleFlow from the KnowledgeWorks hub.

The selected eGain folder is the destination parent. ArticleFlow creates the local root folder beneath it.

Load and review the source

1. Select Choose folder and choose the local product root.
2. Review the folder and article totals.
3. Expand Folder hierarchy and inspect the planned structure.
4. Clear folders or articles that should not be part of this run.
5. Choose Check in or Publish under Import completion.

Selecting a folder selects its descendants. Individual articles can be included or excluded where the source tree allows an independent selection.

Prepare the article template

The first step creates an ArticleFlow template article in the destination product folder.

1. Select Prepare template.
2. In eGain, configure the template article's custom attributes.
3. Save the custom attributes and return to ArticleFlow.
4. Select Continue import.

ArticleFlow copies the prepared template for imported articles so common custom attributes do not need to be entered for every file.

Run the import

During the import, the source tree marks the active item and records completed or failed work.

• Folders are ensured before their articles are created.
• Article HTML is inserted into the eGain editor before check-in or publication.
• Existing exact article titles are skipped.
• A rerun can start from the same source root after an interruption.
• Select Stop import to request cancellation at the next safe point.

If a run fails, review Logs, correct the reported condition, select the same source root and destination parent, then run again. ArticleFlow reuses completed folders and skips existing article titles.

Publish checked-in articles

Use the secondary publishing action when selected source articles already exist in eGain as checked-in articles. ArticleFlow finds exact titles, opens each available article, publishes it, and reports missing or unavailable entries.
