Install on Windows

1. Download the current KnowledgeWorks Setup <version>.exe from the KnowledgeWorks releases page.
2. Close an older KnowledgeWorks window before starting the installer.
3. Run the installer. Installing a newer version over an existing installation keeps the application identity and updates the installed files.
4. Open KnowledgeWorks from the Start menu.

KnowledgeWorks includes its own Chrome for Testing browser on Windows. This avoids restrictions that may prevent the company-managed Chrome installation from enabling browser automation.

KnowledgeWorks is an internal team tool. Windows may show a publisher warning when the installer is not signed with a public code-signing certificate. Confirm that the installer came from the approved team release before continuing.

Launch the controlled browser

1. Select Launch browser in the KnowledgeWorks hub.
2. Wait for the browser status to change to Connected.
3. Sign in through the required company authentication flow.
4. Open the eGain workspace and any supporting sites needed for your task.

KnowledgeWorks stores the controlled browser profile in its application data directory. Closing the hub normally leaves the browser open, and future launches reuse the same profile and signed-in sessions when they are still valid.

Understand the connection states

Status	Meaning	Action
Not running	The controlled browser is not available.	Select Launch browser.
Connecting	KnowledgeWorks is waiting for the browser automation endpoint.	Wait for the launch to finish.
Connected	The browser is ready for the tools.	Open a tool and continue.
Disconnected	The previous browser session is no longer reachable.	Select Reconnect or relaunch the browser.
Launch failed	The browser did not become ready in time.	Open Logs, then select Try again.

Open a tool

Select MediaBridge, ArticleFlow, or DocSweep from the hub. Opening a tool again focuses its existing window instead of creating another copy.

Keep sessions available

While the controlled browser is connected, KnowledgeWorks periodically contacts the active eGain session. This reduces idle logouts but cannot bypass authentication policy. If eGain or another site requests authentication, complete the normal sign-in process in the controlled browser.
